Every other Sunday is therapy day. Things are fairly busy in our world, but I’m really trying to make it a priority to be fully present for my sessions. Even if it’s in a hotel room, while my husband is downstairs at breakfast… lol.
My psychiatrist told me that the key to healing from trauma is grace and patience. Ngl, those are two of the things I’m the absolute WORST at. Lol. I keep asking her for tangible, concrete tasks to work through all of this. (You know your girl loooves structure!) Yes, I do realize CBT is prob the best modality for my broken brain… but I have really struggled to find a therapist that’s a good fit, and I absolutely love this one. I think we’re probably going to learn together… we finally got to a point where I was able to get a couple of specific “things” I can do/ work on. Which helps me immeasurably.
I guess the key to all of this is is working to fully integrate all parts of my inner self. Esoteric, right? Is there a workbook or something? Lol.
I realize this post is a bit disjointed and I’m sorry. I have a sneaky that most of my post- therapy posts will likely be along these lines. If you’re on this journey with me, thank you. Your grace and patience (ha!) is much appreciated!!
